A quick trip to the Netherlands for a project with PWR, a leader in automated robotics packaging. When people think of robotics and automation, they often picture machines doing all the work. But behind every automated system are talented humans who design, program, and manufacture these incredible machines. PWR wanted to capture this human side of the business, which is where I came in.
To do that, however, meant jumping on a plane—a task I’m not always thrilled about! As someone who’s a bit of a nervous flyer, air travel can be stressful, especially when you factor in the unpredictable nature of flying with equipment. In the past, I’ve dealt with gear not arriving at the destination airport—especially lighting batteries, which have a tendency to cause delays and issues in transit. But thankfully, portable lighting has come a long way in recent years.
Gone are the days of lugging around heavy cases with lead-acid batteries that make travel a nightmare. Now, with the advent of lightweight batteries, the experience is much more manageable. These compact power solutions have transformed how I approach international photography shoots. I can now board flights with minimal equipment while still being fully prepared for the job. The result? A far more stress-free experience and the ability to focus on what really matters—capturing the essence of the client’s vision.
For this particular shoot, I worked to showcase the people behind the technology at PWR. By highlighting the craftsmanship, skill, and expertise that goes into creating their advanced robotic systems, I aimed to tell a story that went beyond just the machinery. My approach to lifestyle and corporate photography is always centered on the human element—whether it’s a high-tech company or a small business, it’s the people that make the difference.
If you're looking for a professional photographer in Edinburgh who can bring the human side of your business to life, I specialise in capturing corporate photography with a focus on the people behind the brand. From industrial settings to high-tech environments, I create images that tell the full story.
