Our journey began in the charming town of Yalıkavak, located on Turkey’s Bodrum Peninsula along the stunning Aegean Sea. This area is a photographer’s dream, offering the perfect backdrop for capturing candid lifestyle photography. With its bustling markets, beautiful marinas, and welcoming locals, Yalıkavak provides an ideal mix of vibrant culture and scenic beauty. Every corner presented an opportunity to showcase the authentic energy of the region, from the fishermen preparing their daily catch to the lively conversations at the local cafés.
From there, it was on to Istanbul, a city that truly captures the essence of where east meets west. Istanbul’s vibrant atmosphere, with its rich history, diverse architecture, and the mesmerising sounds and scents that fill the air, provided the perfect setting for documentary-style photography. From the ancient Hagia Sophia to the bustling Grand Bazaar, the city is a photographer’s paradise. Every scene tells a story, and I was able to document the unique culture and daily life in this incredible city.
The project was a fly-on-the-wall, week-long visit to the Bodrum area and a day in Istanbul, commissioned by award-winning property developer Braemore Property. The goal was to capture the essence of the local surroundings and the atmosphere of Turkey for their marketing campaigns. My approach focused on blending into the environment to authentically document the lifestyle, landscapes, and the vibrant spirit of the locations.
Whether in the peaceful coastal town of Yalıkavak or the bustling streets of Istanbul, I aimed to highlight the beauty and character of this vibrant country. My role was not just to take pictures but to convey the emotion and energy of the people and places that make Turkey so captivating.
